I am a Utah based photographer with an MFA from Utah State University. My media includes digitized analogue photography,19th century photographic processes and digital color photography. I use a Deardorff 5X7 and 8X10 camera and a Sony digital camera. My interests are mainly landscape with an emphasis on the altered landscape. My favorite location for exploration is the Great Salt Lake especially those out of the way places that are seldom visited by tourists.
A photographic image can be confusing because we believe the image represents a place when in fact it is an interpretation of a moment seen by an individual and then re-interpreted in the darkroom or with a computer. It is, as Ansel Adams stated on more than one occasion, the performance of a moment seen and experienced by an artist (my paraphrase). Part of the power achieved in photography is that it seems so real.
